Pre-K & KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION/SCREENING
FAYETTE parents who are planning to enroll their child(ren) in Kindergarten or Pre-Kindergarten for the 2023-24 school year at Fayette Central School will need to register their child(ren) for Pre-K or Kindergarten by contacting the school by phone or email: 685-4770 or melody_jenkins@fayettmecs.com. Screening will take place Tuesday, May 16th and Thursday, May 18th. To be eligible to start school this fall, a child must be four years of age for Pre-K, and five years of age for Kindergarten, on or before October 15, 2023. At the time of registration/screening, parents will need to bring the following:
The Child to be Registered
An Official Birth Certificate - This can be obtained from the town you were living in during the time of the child's birth or from the Bureau of Vital Statistics in Augusta. We cannot accept photocopied, hospital, or baptismal certificates.
Immunization Records - (4 Polio, 5 DPT, 2 Measles, 2 Mumps, 2 Rubella, 1 Varicella (Chickenpox.) Bring an updated list of all immunizations that your child has received. (Your child may not have yet had his/her fifth year booster.)
Your Child's Social Security Card
Proof of Residency - such as a current telephone or electric service bill, a rent or mortgage receipt.
Custody Document (if your child does not reside with both parents.)
Your child will NOT be enrolled until all necessary documents have been received.
What to expect…
During the registration process, your child will receive a speech, language, cognitive, and motor screening. Vision and hearing screenings will take place once school has started in the Fall. These procedures help us identify children who may need additional help at school. We will ask you to complete registration materials at the time of your child’s registration/screening. Please note that your child will not be actively enrolled until all required documents have been received. You can expect to be here for approximately 30 - 45 minutes.
Tips…
Assure your child that screening will be a fun experience. The screening process is a tool to help the school understand each and every child. It is not a test of intelligence! Encourage them to talk with other children about their experience in school.
We are looking forward to including your child as a new member of the Fayette Central School Eagles! As always, feel free to call the school if you have questions or concerns, 685-4770.
